The third and final season of the foodie-oriented British comic drama finds respected chef Gina (Dawn French) and manager and businesswoman Sam (Emilia Fox)—both ex-wives of celebrity chef Leo Vincent (Iain Glen)—still clashing over their struggling restaurant and country inn Penrose Hotel in rural Cornwall. A new challenge appears when restaurateur Mason Elliot (Vincent Regan) arrives to woo Gina away (she refuses) and opens a rival restaurant on a property that Sam had planned to develop. As they go to war, Gina's daughter (Tanya Reynolds) returns from vacation pregnant, and Leo’s flinty but supportive mother (Sheila Hancock) deals with cancer. Gina is as obstinate as ever, finally driving away her rising star protégé, and Sam feels unsupported, unappreciated, and even undercut in her efforts to keep the Penrose afloat. Although dead, Leo still narrates from the grave and periodically appears as a kind of spirit to console his loved ones. Airing on Acorn TV stateside, Delicious settled into a pleasant but familiar groove as an easygoing melodrama with a foodie theme filmed against a lovely country setting backdrop. This last season doesn't add much to the ongoing story until the season finale, which sets up a kind of professional divorce for the sparring partners. Compiling all four episodes from the 2018-19 third and final season, extras include a behind-the-scenes featurette. A strong optional purchase. (S. Axmaker)
