A fitness entrepreneur with an engaging personality and a social media following, Lyzabeth Lopez has shared her knowledge of exercise and nutrition using platforms such as You Tube, Instagram, and Twitter. Lopez created the Hourglass Workout centers to help women celebrate and develop their curves, and here she answers questions taken from the Ask Me Anything website. Such as: how can a woman achieve a sexy bottom? Lopez demonstrates several exercises for the glutes, noting that she focuses on this area twice a week. Lopez’s exercises use weights and are not for beginners (they include a hip thruster movement with a 100-pound barbell and split squats holding 18-pound weights). Lopez emphasizes the need to consume enough calories—especially protein—to build and maintain muscle. A registered holistic nutritionist, Lopez lists her top five supplements to help maintain muscle mass, reduce free radicals, and promote health: glutamine, aloe vera, branched amino acids (BCAA), the “C vegetable” chlorella, and natural antioxidants such as goji berries, chia, and dates. Lopez also names her top five exercises from a repertoire of over 500, and illustrates each of these challenging moves: pull-ups using a strap for the knee or foot, kettlebell lifts, two types of leg kicks using weights, and cardio movements using an app. Keeping in mind that this is not an exercise program per se, but rather a preview of a career for motivated entrepreneurs interested in fitness instruction and nutrition, this is recommended.
