Ron Howard’s “Pavarotti” Doc Coming September 24 from Lionsgate

A legendary performer comes into focus in Pavarotti (DVD: $29.99, Blu-ray/DVD Combo: $39.99), slated for release on September 24 from Lionsgate. Directed by Ron Howard, the documentary utilizes performance footage to tell the story of global sensation Luciano Pavarotti (1935-2007), who quickly gained notoriety worldwide for singing the aria “Nessun dorma” at the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. Featuring testimonies from his fellow Three Tenors members Jośe Carreras and Plácido Domingo, the film also includes archival segments featuring Spike Lee, Princess Diana, Nelson Mandela, and Stevie Wonder. Bonus features include the “making-of” featurettes “Friends of Pavarotti,” “The Entertainer,” and “Ron Howard on Pavarotti.”
